hello, I am courtney.

about me

My name is Courtney Rinehart, and I am studying International Business and Operations and Supply Chain with a minor in the French language at the University of South Carolina (UofSC). I am pursuing Graduation with Leadership Distinction in Global Learning in May 2022. Through the completion of the Global Learning pathway, I hope to further my understanding of the impact of the global experiences that I have had throughout university, both while at UofSC and during my time abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark, on my knowledge of culture and globalization.

Throughout my educational career at the University of South Carolina, I have eagerly involved myself in every opportunity found that I recognized could enhance and further develop my knowledge of culture and relations internationally as well as help to encourage Americans to explore the world. The opportunities critical to my position today were living in the Maxcy International House, allowing myself to meet and live with hundreds of students from nations far different than my own, becoming a buddy to international students through the “Buddies Beyond Borders” program, serving as a radio show host on both “Passport Playlist” and “Global Gamecocks” on which I interview international students, American students who have studied abroad, and faculty with international experience at UofSC, and joining the Education Abroad Office as a marketing and personal relations intern. With this recognition, my desired future plans of pursuing my Master of International Strategy, Organization and Leadership in Copenhagen, Denmark and further, becoming an international consultant, will be approached with the knowledge I have gained from my international experiences both at the university level including Buddies Beyond Borders, the Maxcy International House, Passport Playlist, Global Gamecocks Podcast, and my time abroad in Denmark as well as my travels and work elsewhere. As an international consultant, I will have the opportunity to combine many of my areas of interest, namely: intercultural communication, furthering cultural education globally, the concept of the transnational mindset and the French language.

This e-portfolio will be organized in three sections based on the key insights gained during my time attending university, encompassing my experiences within and beyond the classroom. The key insights that I will narrow my focus on are (1) Pursuit of a transnational mindset, (2) Improvement of cultural education, and (3) The lethality of stereotypes. Concluding, the leadership section outlines my plan to encourage further international education in my home state of South Carolina.
